    Supply Chain Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional relationship between the organization, manufacturing partners, suppliers, and Supply Chain department.  Position will provide quick reaction support for product quality and supplier quality related issues, execute supplier audits, and provide regular metrics reports.  Person will be responsible for monitoring supplier quality performance and actively work with manufacturing partners and suppliers on corrective actions to obtain stated organizational goals.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Develops a strong understanding of the supply base, including manufacturing, inspection, and test processes.
    • Works with manufacturing partners and suppliers on process evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
    • Measures and drives supplier performance improvements using applicable quality and continuous improvement tools.
    • Verifies quality data is utilized, tracked, reported, and actioned. Requests corrective action for product and process nonconformities.  Validates corrective action effectiveness.
    • Initiates specific in-depth problem solving with suppliers, such as recurring defects, customer field failures, process escapes, observation of significant failure trends, etc.
    • Assists in the development, modification, and maintenance of procedures and instructions covering Quality and Supply Chain aspects.
    • Communicates manufacturing partner / supplier performance to the organization by maintaining performance data and metrics.
    • Composes reports and facilitates Sustaining Product meetings, encompassing product design deficiencies, field failures, component continuity of supply, that negatively impact customer experience and product quality.
    • Contributes to NPI activities: prototype design reviews, manufacturing work instruction reviews, build standard reviews, BOM structure, and process yield analysis.
    • Creates and maintains quality related procedures, forms, and documents. Ensures documents are periodically reviewed and updated in conjunction with product and process changes.
    • Works directly with suppliers, initiating corrective action requests for process failures. Ensures timely resolution of corrective and preventive actions, and validates action(s) effectiveness.
    • Executes product verification activities with manufacturing partners and suppliers such as product and field replaceable unit (FRU) first article inspection (FAI), defines acceptance criteria, and reviews/approves documentation content.
    • Interacts with Development Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, Component Engineering, and Software to drive new and sustaining product improvements.
    • Promotes internal and external continuous improvement activities, cost reductions, second sources, and first article qualifications.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Strong understanding of the supply base, manufacturing, inspection, and test processes
    • Ability to develop strong working relationships with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and internal customers.
    • Must have 7 to 10 years of experience in Quality / Supplier Quality role in manufacturing environment
    • ASQ Certifications:
      • Certified Quality Engineer (Preferred)
      • Certified Quality Auditor (Preferred)
