    Trend Micro Security Products Group (TippingPoint) is seeking a Technician to work with the Hardware Design Engineering group consisting of both Electrical and Mechanical HW Design Engineers.  The Technician's responsibilities will include working with engineers to help troubleshoot HW defects (both design and manufacturing related defects), perform necessary reworks as required, tracking assets, and general lab organization.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Electrical & Mechanical Design Reworks per Engineers' Instructions
    • Component Level debug and repair of complex multi-layer high-speed PCBs
    • Create rework instructions for more complex reworkds (BGAs, etc.)
    • Shell Scripting to aid in debug / reproducibility
    • Root Cause Analysis (absolutely no shot-gunning)
    • General Lab Cleanup & Organization.
    • Manual Labor (Handling of 50+ lbs 2U rackmount equipment

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience
    • Understands how to read electrical designs (electrical schematics, layout files, gerber artwork, stackups)
    • Understands how to read mechanical designs (mechanical CAD files, sheetmetal drawings, etc.)
    • Understanding of the use and function of basic rework equipment (soldering stations, microscopes, etc.)
    • Understanding of the use and function of miscellaneous lab test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, temperature chambers, etc.)
    • Basic understanding of infrastructure equipment and how to use (network switches, terminal servers, remote access, etc.)
    • Computer/Office Skills (Windows, Office Suite, Wiki, Test Plans/Procedures, etc.)
    • Knowledge of embedded Linux is a plus.
    • Knowledge of x86 server systems is a plus.
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
