The Regional Technical Leader is accountable for developing and maintaining customer health within the assigned region.   Working closely with the Sales leadership, the RTL will assist with the design and implementation of the mission, strategy, and tactics for the US Region assigned.  This role is focused on both Pre and Post Sales technical services delivery.  Engagement and collaboration with senior management teams, key business partners both within and without their immediate circle is key to success.  The RTL will be responsible for several ongoing programs/projects and initiatives within the greater organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of Sales Engineers and Technical Advisors.
  • Work with Regional Sales VP to formulate sales strategy and ensure quota attainment.
  • Provide management level support for pre-sales of large opportunities.
  • Develop training/mentoring programs for Sales Reps, provide tactical guidance on opportunities.
  • Responsible for post sales engagement to assist with deployment of purchased products and expanded solution selling.
  • Manage customer escalation and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure daily operational readiness of the pre-sales technical team in the launch of new products.
  • Track and provide key measurements/data/reporting for sales engineering activity , and customer feedback.
  • Provide ongoing customer feedback and competitive intelligence to PM and Technical Council.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Senior level leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively wield a high level of autonomy and consider what is best for overall good of the business/Trend Micro when making decisions.
  • Proven ability to innovate, adapt, and execute in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical team management, Account Management and/or Consulting
  • Demonstrated ability to handle intense negotiations in difficult situations
  • Demonstrated ability to form short term teams to complete projects or to resolve tough support situations as demonstrated by successful projects or successful resolution of escalations requiring multiple departments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong contacts and relationships with peers, product marketing, legal, HR and other Trend Micro departments/teams.
  • Background (10+ years) in customer-facing positions such as technical sales, presales, professional services consulting, technical account management, preferably with a Security software company. 5+ years in a Senior management role.
  • Experience or Understanding of Competitive security products
  • Familiarity with partner business and support models
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent technical training or industry experience
  • Up to 30% travel may be required

Critical Success Factors

  • Acting as a balancing point for the Sales Leader, this role is the voice of reason and litmus test for sales activity in the Region. Tracking and understanding the sales activity at a granular level allows the RTL to gauge the reality of the pipeline.
  • The Sr. Manager (RTL) must keep their finger on the pulse of customer retention/renewal.
