The Channel Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible to support the growth of the SMB business by acting as the technical bridge between our Channel Account Managers and our Channel Partners. The SE will travel and take ownership of the technical relationship with our channel partners to demo, train, enable, communicate with and continually engage technical partner team members by proactively managing and delivering technical content and building relationships either onsite, online, and via telephone. The Channel SE will be tasked with specific recruitment, enablement, training and communication objectives aligned with the objectives of the SMB Channel Account Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support Channel Account Managers in the recruitment, enablement and ongoing engagement of channel partners.
  • Provide intensive pre- -sales technical consulting to prospective and existing channel partners, via conference calls, partner visits, web sessions etc.
  • Create and organize technical designs and presentations
  • Become an expert in Trend Micro product solutions and enable/train partner technical resources
  • Assess, guide, and manage  reseller and distributor partner technical teams and help build/foster technical relationships (tech community)
  • Investigate new solution areas for product extensions and share learnings with product teams
  • Train channel reseller and distributor partners to master the Trend Micro products


  • BS degree or combination of: education and pre-sales technical experience with IT solutions with emphasis preferred in Security Software and Systems.
  • Sales Engineering and/or professional services experience preferred
  • Experience working with various Microsoft software and systems
  • Experience with various content security software and systems preferred
  • Solid multi-tasking, troubleshooting and problem resolution abilities
  • Self-starter and quick learner with desire to continually learn new tools and technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, account management and negotiation skills, with the ability to interface with a diverse set of clients including administrators and C-level executives
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of MS Windows and Active Directory
  • Knowledge of MS Exchange, IIS and SQL is a plus
  • Knowledge of security environments and technologies including: anti-malware, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Data Loss Protection, Endpoint Encryption, File Integrity Monitoring, Email and Web Gateway Security, Email Encryption, SysLog, SIEM products
  • Experience with VMware vCenter and VDI a plus
  • Network infrastructure experience (Routing, switching, edge firewalls, load balancing)

One or more of below certifications or training is desired:

  • MCP – Microsoft Certified Professional
  • MCSE – Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
  • VCP – VMware Certified Professional
  • CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
  • CCNA – Cisco Certified Network Associate
