Applies developed subject matter knowledge to design and implement solutions to complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives. Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. May act as a project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making processes. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select solutions. Ability to handle most unique situations. Seeks advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Designs enhancements, updates, testing, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, scripts, and Internet-related tools
  • Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall research objectives.
  • Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned research
  • Identifies, develops and debugs solutions to research objectives
  • Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding research design status, project progress, and issue resolution
  • Represents the research team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects
  • Provides guidance, mentoring and training to less-experienced staff members
  • Presentation of research results internally and to public conferences

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Expertise in multiple programming languages including C/C++ and Python
  • Collecting, organizing, and cleaning large corpus data
  • Supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques and toolkits including a data science stack.  E.g. pandas, numpy, sklearn
  • Knows network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, et al.
  • Passion for security, defensive and/or offensive techniques, pushing forward the state of the art
  • 10 years experience in related professional disciplines
