We're looking for a Vulnerability Researcher to join our team of security researchers here in Trend Micro Zero Day Initiative. The Zero Day Initiative is radically changing the enterprise security landscape with its unique brand of industry-leading vulnerability research. The Vulnerability Researcher role will leverage the intelligence coming in from a globally-distributed network of vulnerability researchers to deliver actionable guidance to the product teams inside of Trend Micro. This role produces the intelligence which ensures that Trend Micro products can detect and block zero day threats to an enterprise.  It will also support the sales and marketing teams within Trend Micro through the publication of research, white papers, and blogs that will be presented at top security conferences and tradeshows around the world.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Vulnerability Researcher role will leverage the intelligence coming in from a globally-distributed network of vulnerability researchers to deliver actionable guidance to the product teams inside of Trend Micro. This role produces the intelligence which ensures that Trend Micro products can detect and block zero day threats to an enterprise.  It will also support the sales and marketing teams within Trend Micro through the publication of research, white papers, and blogs that will be presented at top security conferences and tradeshows around the world.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in reverse engineering binaries on x86-based platforms with application to vulnerability and/or malware analysis domains. Experience with other architectures (e.g. ARM, PowerPC, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in exploit development with the ability to produce reliable exploits for a wide range of vulnerabilities.
  • Strong Microsoft Windows OS internals knowledge - experience writing and debugging both kernel- and user-mode programs. Experience with other operating systems a plus.
  • Proficiency with reverse engineering tools (e.g. disassemblers, debuggers, instrumentation frameworks, etc.).
