Position will support an ongoing project which includes migrating hardware between racks and re-cabling power and data connections in multiple production environments.


Job requirements:

  • Must be technically proficient in Racking and unracking enterprise data center network and server equipment.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50lbs.
  • Able to cleanly install basic data center cabling and cable management components.
  • Labeling of connections, cables and associated servers and networking equipment.

‘Soft’ Requirements:

  • Able to learn and apply technical concepts quickly.
  • Able to work independently and with a team.
  • Possess Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with team members.

Duties & Responsibilities

Lab Assistants will responsible for the Lab Manager with ensuring a readiness and transition of the Customer Support and Education Technical Labs.  Responsibilities may include:

  • Racking/unracking enterprise class data center network and server equipment, that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Routing basic data center cabling
  • Basic configuration of IPS, network and server equipment under the oversight of the Lab Manager
  • Following the instructions of the Lab Manager and working with a team of Lab Assistants to accomplish the task

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience
  • Degree in related area of study, OR relevant professional/technical experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal skills
  • Experience troubleshooting in a technical environment
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Software and hardware knowledge of computing, storage and peripheral devices
  • Knowledge of network routing protocols and Internet troubleshooting techniques (Routers, Switches, VPN, etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge of information security products and technologies (Intrusion Detection/Prevention, Firewall, Advanced Threat, etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge of virtualization concepts, VMware, KVM and Open Stack (familiarity with deploying OVF templates, use of vMotion and distributed vSwitches is a plus) is a plus
